

Bucharest, 12 September 2007 – In Spring 2008, Baneasa Developments will open one of the most eagerly awaited shopping centers in the Romanian market, Baneasa Shopping City. The new mall is located in the Baneasa Commercial Area, an integrated part of the whole Baneasa Project, and will bring a new dimension to the Commercial Area and for the whole capital, creating a real city of fashion, gastronomy and entertainment.
Baneasa Shopping City represents an investment of over 150 million Euros and is, by far, one of the largest malls under development now in Romania. The construction of Baneasa Shopping City started last year and is planned to be finished in spring 2008.
“In Baneasa Shopping City, the construction is in full progress. The steel structure for spider glass is currently being set and the facade structure is already assembled. The demising plasterboard partitions for shop units are 80% completed and the masonry walls are built 50%. The fitting works are on progress, the glass for skylights is currently being fixed and the signage is ready to start off” stated Ali Ergun Ergen – Administrator and Retail Development Manager for Băneasa Developments. “Baneasa Shopping City is, indeed, the most expected mall in Romania, a brand new concept for the Romanian retail market. We proposed to build a city of fashion, gastronomy and entertainment and the project is already presenting as one”, added Ali Ergun Ergen.
In “the most expected Mall”, almost 50% of the total letable surface represents new entry fashion brands in Romania and at the moment, the letting process is 100% complete. Two major entry fashion brands as Peek & Cloppenburg and Inditex Group brands with, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, ZARA Home and Oysho will open their first stores in Băneasa Shopping City at its official launch. Baneasa Shopping City will also offer the first 3 level food-court in the country with a Ground floor dedicated to fast foods, a 1st floor dedicated to the restaurants and the 2nd floor dedicated to a club & lounge area. Baneasa Shopping City will also bring, in the following phase, 2 unique concepts on the market through the largest entertainment center in Romania: 30,000 sq. m of entertainment area of FEC (Family Entertainment Center) and KEC (Kids Entertainment Center).

Baneasa Shopping City is a construction of over 85,000 sq. m of lettable surface that will integrate over 220 stores at the highest European standards. Baneasa Shopping City is an integrated part of Baneasa Commercial Area – the 450,000 sq. m retail park that comprises: IKEA, the number 1 furniture retailer in the world, CARREFOUR, one of the largest in the country, together with its shopping gallery FEERIA, METRO, the most important “cash & carry” store in Romania, BRICOSTORE, the most successful Do-It-Yourself store in the country, MOBEXPERT, number 1 Romanian furniture retailer and producer and MOTOR CITY, a sales area dedicated to the most famous car brands to be opened in 2008.
Baneasa Commercial Area is one of the three integrated parts of the Baneasa Project, itself the largest mixed use urban development project in the South Eastern Europe. The investment in the project exceeds EUR 1.8 billion and will cover over 221 hectares of land. In addition to the 450,000 sq. m of retail area, Baneasa Project will offer approximate 5,000 housing units in Baneasa Residential and a state-of-the-art business park incorporating 160,000 sq. m of class A and A+ office space in Baneasa Business & Technology Park.
